Hermes Sous Le Cedre by Dimitri Rybaltchenko Virtually MINT!
£349.00
This beautiful Hermes scarf, depicting a Mediterranean theme, was originally designed by Dimitri Rybaltchenko in 1998, reissued in 2011. The central motif depicts a peaceful, rustic scene of nomadic travellers, donkeys, and goats finding shelter beneath the sprawling branches of a majestic Cedar of Lebanon tree. Rybaltchenko framed the central vignette with intricate patterns reminiscent of ancient Mediterranean and Byzantine stone mosaics, complete with birds, thistles, and geometric borders. Our example is in mint condition, but has been incorrectly folded.
Hermes writes: This tree may stand modestly, but still it reigns by virtue of its size and its biblical longevity, and we like it even more for flying the Lebanese flag. A witness to legendary epochs, it has provided the ecumenical wood from which temples, mosques and the great Phoenician ships were constructed. Here, bordered by Byzantine mosaics, it invites us to partake of a shade, which lends itself to meditation upon the sacred mysteries.
