Hermes describes the design:
“The nature-inspired world of Katie Scott displays the full beauty of flora and fauna. Her distinctive style—reminiscent of 19th-century naturalists’ illustrations—is easily recognizable. In this design, eight species of bromeliads are represented, out of the 3,300 recorded to date. This plant family, from the tropical and subtropical regions of America, can be either epiphytic or terrestrial. The former grow attached to other plants—along branches or trunks—whereas terrestrial bromeliads, such as the pineapple, grow in the ground.”
Katie Scott, born in 1988 and based in London, graduated from University of Brighton in 2011. Her work draws influences from traditional medical and botanical illustration, both in aesthetic and subject matter. It plays with the ideas of scientific uncertainty and speculation, fabricating the inner and outer workings of the world.
