Rare collectors’ item: Vintage, Rich Red ‘Ascot 1831’ (later ‘La Ronde des Jockeys’)

Here we are at Ascot in 1831. The jockeys have swapped their heavy riding coats for fine shirts sporting the colours of their owners. Astride their thoroughbreds, the twelve riders pay homage to one of the most prestigious race tracks in the world. Created in 1711, every year it’s the scene of “Royal Ascot”, which was traditionally attended by our late Queen in her landau.

This rich, rich red vintage Hermes scarf was created by Francoise De La Perriere in 1969, and later reissued and renamed in 2011: Le Ronde des Jockeys.  Despite its great age, and though it has clearly been worn and loved, the scarf appears spotless, with just one small pulled thread.  Condition 9.5/10.
